Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor masquerading as intra-ductal papillary mucinous neoplasm: a case report

Resumen

Pancreatic cysts are being commonly diagnosed owing to the increased utilization of radiological modalities for the evaluation of abdominal complaints. Cysts can represent an underlying benign, pre-malignant or malignant diagnosis, and making an accurate diagnosis is often challenging. Here we report a case of a pancreatic cystic lesion, provisionally diagnosed as intra-ductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) based on pre-operative and intra-operative findings, which on final histopathology turned out to be a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.
