Abstract

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is an essential therapeutic procedure in the management of biliary and pancreatic disorders, although it carries an inherent risk of complications. Stapfer type III perforations, which may occur during the procedure due to instrumental manipulation, can require the placement of a biliary stent to maintain drainage and control the leak. However, late migration of the biliary stent is an infrequent but serious complication, capable of perpetuating the biliary leak and promoting infections and/or secondary pancreatitis.
